U2M - Pom5

A pomegranate melomel using POM Wonderful juice. This was started in a 3 gallon carboy.

Ingredients:

Yeast notes. 5g D47 yeast. Rehydrated and pitched at brew time.

May 24, 2025. Weighed honey into the kettle and added a quart of water, heating to 140F. The juice was cold so we didn't want to cool it too much. We put a lid on the kettle and left outside on the concrete to cool. It was a cool, rainy day and after 20 minutes it was cool enough to pour into a carboy on top of a bottle of juice. The other 2 bottles were added, along with enough water to top off the carboy. SG 1.094 taken before the yeast was pitched.

May 25, 2025 - Already blurping away.

August 19, 2025 - rack carboy to carboy. SG 1.001

November 9, 2025 - We were delayed longer than expected; it had been ready for the keg for a while. Since we had a 3 gal carboy but the half-kegs are only 2.5 gal, we filled a 1-liter bottle separately to be a still mead for some future party. Then racked to keg. SG 1.000

December 1, 2025 - Bottled with a bit of fizz.
