U2M - Cranberry

Made with mashed 'Ocean Spray' cranberries.


Yeast was pre-started the evening of March 1, with yeast starter, apple juice and water.

March 3, 1999 - Honey heated with water. Irish moss and gypsum added. Heated to 170 F. Added cranberries and must chiller and brought back to 170 - 175 F. Kept hot for 15 minutes. Cooled to about 100 F. Poured into bucket. Added yeast nutrient and enough water to make 5.5 gallons. Yeast pitched. Stirred and stored with a bubble lock.

April 7, 1999 - Racked and stored with a bubble lock.

September 30, 1999 - boiled corn sugar in 1 cup water. Poured sugar water into bucket and racked mead into bucket. Bottled.
